AI Image Prompt Examples: 7 Formulas That Work

Most "bad" AI images are really bad prompts. Models like Nano Banana 2, Seedream, and FLUX follow instructions well — if the instructions actually describe a picture. This post gives you a reusable prompt formula and seven copy-paste examples across popular styles.

The 6-part prompt formula

A reliable AI image prompt covers six things:

  1. Subject — who or what, with specific details.
  2. Style — photography, 3D render, anime, watercolor, pixel art…
  3. Composition — close-up, full body, top-down, rule of thirds.
  4. Lighting — golden hour, studio softbox, neon, backlit.
  5. Mood / palette — warm, moody, pastel, high-saturation.
  6. Quality cues — 4K, high detail, professional, cinematic.

You don't need all six every time, but each one you add removes a decision the model would otherwise guess.

7 prompt examples to steal

1. Commercial food photography (infographic style) "Hyper-realistic food photography, vertical deconstructed infographic of a burger, real ingredient textures, professional commercial shoot, high detail, studio lighting."

2. Cute 3D brand mascot "Chibi 3D IP mascot design, a durian character in yellow-green palette, big round face, glossy toy texture, front view, clean studio background."

3. Maximalist fantasy illustration "Moebius-style maximalist illustration, mysterious mood, high saturation, intricate line work, master composition."

4. Black-and-white film photo "Cinematic film photography, black and white, dramatic master lighting, exaggerated lens perspective, English countryside."

5. Anime character portrait "Idol-style character art, standing pose, delicate facial features, playful makeup, soft fluffy hair, natural highlights."

6. Epic sci-fi scene "Top-tier sci-fi visual, maximalism, cosmic space travel, gravitational lensing, black hole, cinematic scale."

7. Product hero shot "Minimal product photography, floating skincare bottle, pastel gradient background, soft studio light, sharp focus, advertising quality."

Iterate cheaply, then upgrade

Prompting is iteration. Run drafts on a fast, low-cost model (Z-Image Turbo or Nano Banana 2 Lite class), pick the best direction, then re-run the winning prompt on a flagship model for the final asset. Read our Nano Banana 2 Lite review for the speed-vs-quality tradeoff.
